Non stick surface
I am SAG. I am happy. I had 2 good commercial auditions this week. For Danielle Eskinazi and Joe Blake. Joe calls me in a lot these days, which is great. I would love to be the new Pam™ guy. Coming up I have a callback for Julia Kim and a very cool theatre audition.
Choppy sentence man, signing off.

Sunday
Seriously, why aren't you watching the Olympics, go do it. It's keeping me away from this ... but in a good way.
I have the first draft of my short down on paper. A little motivational help for this one from Jeff & Larissa. I also happen to have just installed my Final Draft upgrade. This means no more booting onto os9 to run it... meaning I look forward to actually using it more than twice.
As of yesterday I already have 3 auditions for next week. Nice. One is a fairly large theatre roll that I plan on getting coaching for. Just sent the email to see about that coaching. See, Blogging is a motivator.

Stripper
Hey look, I'm actually catching up after saying "more later". So Monday I'm doing the usual self submissions on ActorsAccess and I see an Indie Film breakdown from my friend & part time step sister, Casting Director Deb McCarthy. There weren't any parts for me. Why? Because I'm SAG & it's a non union film (yeah, I roll like that) but that's not the point. Well, I do look forward to Deb casting union stuff but I'm more happy for her very busy new casting career! OK, so I decide to submit anyway for the role of a hot 18 year old stripper with this pic:
And I scored an audition! You have got to hear the call from Deb complete with wardrobe suggestions. So funny. I'll have to put it up as an audio blog if I can peel it off my voicemail cleanly.

Olympics
I love the Olympics. So many unbelievable performances and emotion already. Really to much to write about but I encourage you to check out some of the action. For instance, Kelly Clark had a completely awesome break-all-boundaries run in the finals of the women's Halfpipe only to do a quick down-n-up at the end to come in 4th. Best run of the event, rock on Kelly.
Today was a good day, got a bunch of mailers out, went for a run (lungs still on fire), was able to be of service to some folks, got an audition moved around for tomorrow and a possible stripper audition is coming up. More tomorrow as I must crash.

yup
I think I avoid posting late because I don't want to do a quickie, so here's a quickie.
Audition at Mick Dowd today. He's called me in a bunch lately which is great and I'm hoping to do a callback worthy job. They had me waiting right by the inner door so when the guy before me exited I heard the mysterious intercom voice* ask him to come in for a callback tomorrow, just before they bring me in. My first read was good, they liked it. It was also a rehearsal. The next one I didn't think was as good because my voice cracked a bit. Next one I think I was in my head. Hey, I know, it probably wasn't as bad as I thought, and ya gotta leave that shit in the room & start thinking about the next one. Move on. But then you would have nothing for 'ol bloggy tonight. Oh, and I didn't hear the voice after my read. But I was able to get across town to a theatre audition. It was fine. Tomorrow I go for in another USC thesis film and catch you up on the shoot & last weeks auditions.

Booked
That's a nice heading. I'll be playing the part of a news anchor tomorrow in the SAG Indie film "The Genius Club". A Film directed/written by Tim Chey that stars Stephen Baldwin & a few other names. I work tomorrow, 1 scene, all on greenscreen which is cool since I haven't really worked that much with it before. Googling gets you a Variety article (if you're a member, I am not) or this one, near the bottom of the page.
Wheeze
I went running this morning, first time in about 6 months (doc's orders, etc.). Holy crap, my lungs were pissed! Of course I sort of auto-pilot started off at my "old pace". That shit ended soon but I did manage to do my 2.8 (?) mile loop ...angering my precious smoke free lungs even further ...perhaps not the best idea ... I'm going again tomorrow.

The awesome Bonnie Gillespie has completed the second edition of her book, Self Management For Actors. And those of us who helped a bit celebrated with her tonight at El Cholo. More on this later ...

3 fuckin years!
That's the way to say it, according to my friend Bill (sorry Mom, luv ya). Yup, thanks to Nicotine Anonymous and some really great friends I've gone 3 years with nary a puff. Math:
21,900 cigs that have not entered my lungs
$5,475 has remained in my bank account
Sweet. If anybody needs help quitting, feel free to ask.

Borg redux
Not the most flattering angle but the Borg generally don't worry about that. Actually this Borg was cute up until she dry shaved my chest with a single blade plastic disposable. When did they stop making these ('78?) I wondered as she carved out an asymmetric pattern of patches resembling Steve Carell in The 40 Year Old Virgin screaming "Oooohh Kelly Clarkson". Pretty funny stuff & she thought I was nuts asking for a photo. We bonded. All is well.
Well It looks like I'm not the new pitch man for the Catholics but that happens to free me up for 2 Indies & a Grad audition Saturday, and a little work on the short. I'll take it. Not to mention going in to see Cathi Carlton for a Hallmark spot, plus another Indie tomorrow. There are a few weak spots in my records but I don't think I've auditioned for Cathi since April '03. I'm diggin' 2006.
